Qualifications

Dr. Kelley graduated medical school from UNC Chapel Hill and completed an OB/Gyn residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  She was most recently in practice in Las Cruces, NM, but has now returned to North Carolina, after the birth of her second child, to be closer to family (and for a respite from the heat).  Dr. Kelley also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill during medical school.  She is board certified in OB/Gyn and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Who/what inspires you?

My kids and my husband, but I try to draw inspiration from as many parts of my life as possible

Coffee

What would you do if you had 2 free hours?

Probably nap

Why did you choose to specialize in Ob/Gyn?

I initially wanted to be a neurosurgeon but fell in love with Women’s Health while getting my MPH. I felt there was so much work to be done in this field and so many ways that I wanted to be able to contribute

Do you have any hidden talents?

I was a dance major in college

What is your favorite animal?

Wombat

What do you like about living in Asheville?

The variety of vegetarian food choices everywhere

What was your favorite subject in school?

Science

What is on your “bucket list”?

Visiting as many parts of the world as possible

What would your profession be if you weren’t a physician
